Charles & Janine Williams

Charles and Janine Williams are full-time professional urban artists. Working and travelling extensively throughout Aotearoa (New Zealand) and around the globe Charles and Janine create visual stories that connect them to the whenua (land) and to the tangata whenua (local people) they encounter along the way. Their creative practice is the outworking of their passion for their Māori heritage presenting it in an urban context that features modern interpretations of cultural design along with native/endemic birdlife.

With a number of personal accolades and community works, together Charles and Janine were invited to attend the Festival of Pacific Arts Guåhån 2016 as members of the Aotearoa delegation & have worked on numerous creative festivals including the Auckland Arts Festival, Artweek Auckland, Matariki Festival, Tāmaki Herenga Waka Festival, Pasifika Festival & Ono’u Graffiti Festival Tahiti/Ra’iātea.
